Message from the President

Lions International is the largest service club organization in the world and will celebrate its Centenary in 2017.  Bedford Lions Club has been an active Club since it was Chartered in 1967 so will celebrate 50 years in 2017 which is a tribute to its members, who are all volunteers, raising in the region of £20,000 each year.

Most of the money is raised during December when Santa visits the streets and supermarkets of Bedford to collect money which is distributed to local charities and local needy individuals.

We also organize an Easter Egg Raffle in local pubs and the money from this is given to local children’s organizations.

Kempston Fun Day is an opportunity for the people of Kempston and surrounding areas to come together and enjoy a variety of events in our arena and the money raised is then distributed to Kempston Charities and individuals.

Our Annual Race Night, Music Night and Charter Dinner, each supporting a specific Charity each year, plus an Older People’s Party is an opportunity for adults to come together and enjoy themselves.

Some of the money we raise is sent to Lions Clubs International to support people experiencing disasters such as the recent floods in various parts of the country.

We are always happy to welcome people who are interested in helping with events or wish to become members.

We meet twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays.  The first meeting is to discuss business and the second meeting is a social event. Our Project Committee organize our events and our Welfare Committee distributes funds to those in need.
